    Dear nickgoodenough,

a couple of questions for you as the webmaster. I am Aramanthea Kupco, new to the website and just figuring out how it works. I notice everyone's name
shows up in red - Is that the username I have originally put in and have to enter when I sign in? If so how do I change mine if I want something different
to always show up in red and identify myself???

Also if I wish to introduce myself to other members on the site, where is the best place to do that? In General Discussion?

I plan to add my website for my artwork but wanted to get these questions answered first.

    Thank you.

I use the "What's inspiring you"" and "Show off your new work" discussion rooms the most. The Artist website is nice to post your website address and submit a short bio so we can all get to know you1

Your name did show up in red on my computer1

Hi, my name is David. I heard about WAV just recently and it sounds very cool! I have a small cabinet/furniture shop and practice different kinds of art such as sculpture, guitar and some poetry with my free time. Would love to get involved with the art community and meet new people.

    Hi David,

There are discussion threads to post your website and newest art, those would be great places to start.

We have meetings at city hall in Ventura each month to discuss the artist selection process. The next meeting is on the second saturday of January last I heard. Hope to see you there.

Welcome Thelma Smith to our discussion group. Hope to see one of your latest piece's posted to our New work discussion forum.
I throughly enjoyed visiting your website, learning a little about your techniques, your aspirations and your experiences in art..

    What wonderful eye treats!

My favorite from the Blues series was "The Eye In Ravel"

I will definitely have to purchase a copy of your "Changing the World Catalog" to add to my reference library collection.

I came across some wonderful Fiberarts Design contemporary textile art hard back books by Lark Books several years ago.. An online bead store was selling some of these used books for a friend and I was able to purchase Book Five and Book Six. Sadly the other issues are all out of print.

Since 1980 the Design book series has documented the development of contemporary textile art with a new edition appearing every three to four years. There are approximately 660 works per book shown in full color by artists from 34 countries, including every corner of the United States. I keep searching online regularly, hoping an issue will pop up for sale . Perhaps you have heard about them or seen them?

I am a beader, sculpting beads on wood, shells, cloth, macrame etc.

Hope to see more of your work very soon. You would make a wonderful addition to our WAV Project!

    Sandi 61,
The "Changing the World One Thread at a Time" is a free download. It was sponsored in part by the Arizona Arts Commission and the Tucson Pima Arts Council. We gave away more than 8000 copies of that catalog. Feel free to help yourself to a download. One of my goals is to introduce the arts world to the power of textiles to convey societal messages. One gets pulled in by the beauty to be, then, enticed by serious questioning.

The European Edition of Changing the World was shown in Alsace, France in September 2006. The download can be purchased through paypal; the link is there. This catalog is an attenuated version of the original exhibition with a selection of invitationals. It's intent was to show the European Union that what they see on television and CNN is not the only America. We are individuals with individual voices. We have minds to think. It caused quite a stir.

I still haven't translated the eight pages in four color from Spain. I have enough border spanish to know they called me the other heart of North America. <G> If enough people are interested I might make a free download of that article available, especially if someone would be kind enough to translate the European Spanish for me.

There is another book remainder company. I've lost the name. They mail a huge newsprint catalog. Google and see who sells "book remainders."

Thanks for the update! Your website mentioned a price of $12 I believe, for the publication.. I don't speak or read Spanish, so a Spanish version would not do me much good, beyond the images. I find the commentaries and bios are vital when visually interpreting pictures one is viewing.

I will Google "book remainders" and see if I can obtain the remaining four Fibers design book series. It should be about time for a new book in the series to be released. Fiber design has taken great strides since 1995.

Thanks for the "Google" book remainders info. I was able to purchase the first four books to complete my series for only $30 total! plus a very reasonable flat rate shipping fee, even though each book is coming from a different book dealer throughout the US.
