Dear Chris , WAV community , anyone who knows something more,

I was wondering what's the status of the band rehearsal space thats provided on the WAV? I have heard rumors that there is going to be a soundproof room for band practice somewhere next to the theater/gallery. However when i asked to see that space last friday it wasnt anything more than a few square feet of empty and definitely not soundproofed space behind the commercial stores, shared with the public space where the public restrooms are and a storage for kitchen equipment.

I don't want to sound ungrateful here. The WAV is a magnificent project and i am soooooo happy to be a part of it!! It's just that i really need to know, since i am a professional musician, and with my band i used to have a lockout rehearsal space in Ventura that i gave up because the WAV was supposed to provide with one!

I am wondering if i was shown the wrong room or if it WAS the right one, when will it be ready and functional.Being in music production and a sound savvy in general (and as i have discussed with Chris and the interviewers) i would like to help with setting up the space and even provide with my own PA system for other musicians and bands to work with, and eventually we could even have that space as a serious music recording studio too!.

So until the band room is done , would i be able to rehearse in my appartment with a full band (drums/guitar & bass amps/ miced vocals) ?? or should i be looking to rent another place to practice my art??

Thanks for your understanding and swift answer:):):)
    I love to be here

Don't know anything about a band practice room.

...that's nice if we have public restrooms down there. I wonder how they will be kept clean and monitored, etc. :)

Good point Mark, maybe we take turns playing janitor. Is nice we have public restrooms on site. I was just down there checking out the project, was impressed with the WAV office door...looks so proffesional.

panosscourtis: The room you saw is the "Hot Room", it is the sound proofed space. I noticed the sound proofing connecting to the gallery space is significant (a foot of concrete followed by a foot of air space and then another foot of concrete), but the side connecting to the commercial and office spaces have less sound dampening. We may have to wait til after office hours (5pm) to rehearse with volume at 11.

Sounds good to me, if you say its sound proofed i don't have any reason to doubt it:):) And Is it going to be "open" to the public, like anyone can walk in to go to the bathroom i.e. or is it going to be locked once a band is using it?

Also, is there any small safe space nearby (no more than 10-15 sq feet) that can be used as storage so musicians won't have to make an expedition every time they need to rehearse?

panosscourtis: Locks for the facility sound like a good idea if there not already in place. Being "open" to the public should be at the discretion of the artist who reserved use of the space.

No storage has been set aside that I know of. Storage in the garage MIGHT be possible, I don't guarantee anything though. We can work something out for storage after move in.

Is this space available to use yet? I really want to play & create without being concerned about bugging my neighbors, i wasn't aware when I moved in these walls would be paper thin, I'd love to get in there..Wyatt

If you're still looking for rehearsal/storage space for your band, I have some approx 1 block from the WAV
