We have been experiencing a few minor issues, including:
*Minimal hot water in kitchen- (which may also be causing the problems we are having with our dishwasher leaving dishes spotty & unwashed).
*Little to/no hot water in the bathroom sink.
*Fan not working on the stove.
    *No heat.
Otherwise, we are very happy to be settling in to our new home!

brittb: We had the spotty dishwasher issue too, turned out we were using the wrong settings. Turning "Heated Dry" off fixed the issue I believe.

Management: We have some minor issues as well, Unit 102, 35 W Thompson.
    - Fan not working on the stove
    - Leaking by front door
    - Missing light bulb above stove
    - Damaged peephole
    - Missing two cabinet pull tabs

First let me say how much we love living here next you all of YOU!
    @ 65 thomp #201
We understand that new buildings undergo a settling period to work out the kinks.
2 months in, and we are still experiencing hot water shortages.  At full temperature   blast, the bath/shower is often not warm enough for bathing.
Three  of the last five nights we have either tried to take a shower or  bath, we have not been able to because the hot water was  insufficient.
We find that sometimes the hot water eventually comes to the shower once it has been running for 10-15 minutes.

It is a frustrating thing to have to waste so much just to get warm  water.
I was a young child during the 7 year drought of California. I am very familiar with water conservation and take great pride in it.
My five year old is now pointing out to me that I am wasting water. I am trying to find the hot water I say!   Thought it seems strange to .
I periodically turn on the heat up stairs in the bedrooms to see if  our thermostat could be redeemed after more than 2 months of being here without heat. Usually I leave it for an hour or so cranked  past 85 degrees, but it will still blow only cold air.
(our downstairs work area thermostat appears to work, we just have a routine of making sure it's off if we are trying to get hot water out of the faucet and not our stove top kettles. )
I think that recent attempts have felt heat upstairs, but it also is likely due to the the dehumidifier machines running which bump up the inner household temperature almost ten degrees!

The workers tented the kitchen and 2 bedrooms, cut out  the damp sections of wall and set the drying  machines up Thursday 2/11.  What a  Drag.
I did not realize the tents would be left up till 2/18 That is crazy! Our place is so loud with the buzzing of the machines.
It looks as though we set up makeshift operating rooms in the kitchen and upstairs bedrooms.
I was not home the morning the tents went up so I can blame Luther for not getting out whatever dishes or glassware we would be using from the china cabinet (which became inaccessible once the tents went up.) I am sure he had no idea the tent would be there so long either.
I am not looking forward to having the workers do drywall either. There is still so much drywall in the upstairs bedrooms and hallway stuck to the carpets from before we even moved in, I really don't want more.

Hopefully the work being done now to the windows and walls will prevent any
further work needed  in the future. I am not friends with bad mold.
Though I must say that I have great concerns about the interior of the units and it's sustainability. The other day I saw a black spot on the high ceiling so I moved for a closer view only to find that it is a piece of the cardboard/compressed particle material flaking off. The same goes for any thing on the interior of the unit that poses as wood, you get a little nick in the moulding and it will chip and flake away like a rice cake. I plan to use wood glue to seal these parts back and hopefully deter further deterioration but a greater solution has not been determined. We look forward to having secure parking we can count on for those nights I get home late from school. Be aware also that bikes are being stolen from the WAV. We need our bike room available to tenants . I am locking our bikes together but not physically "to anything." So keep watch for someone dragging a pile of bikes away!
    We love the WAV.
Thanks for inviting me to vent.

For the past three weeks my unit has been experiencing intermittent loss of hot water in both bath and kitchen. The hot water was almost off all last weekend, and it shuts off every two or three days for unknown duration. Most recently, Friday evening, Feb 19th at approximately 7pm, I discovered there was no hot water. This Saturday morning, at approximately 10am, I came home to shower after a walk and there was no hot water. I am alerted to the imminent loss of pressure on the hot water side when I turn on the faucet full hot and feel for warm water starting to come out. Normally, it takes a few seconds for the hot water to reach its highest temperature. If the water stays cold, and actually seems to run colder, I have learned to expect a hammering sound in the ceiling of the bathroom, and the hot water shuts off.
I suspect that the mixing valve located in the bath ceiling is shutting down because of low pressure in the hot water circulating system. The points of low pressure are intermittent because the areas of low pressure are determined by the usage of that particular moment. If there is a rise of hot water usage in a cluster of apartments, pressure goes down, subsequently closing the mixing valve mechanism to only allow cold water to downstream apartments. This may be why it is difficult to pinpoint hot water problems at any one time. A possible solution is to identify relevant sites along the hot water circulating system and install one or two small booster pumps to maintain the proper pressure along the entire line even during times of heavy usage.

No hot water Fri Sat Sun Mon 2-19 to 2-22. My original theory of intermittent low pressure due to high usage was misleading. I have tried the hot water throughout the past 4 days. Now it is constantly going off into a trickle. I have tried in the middle of the night, early Sunday morning in the hopes of finding a period of time when there is enough pressure on the hot water side because of low usage. I am beginning to think that the problem is in the mixing valve because whenever the pressure on the hot water side returns, it never gets even lukewarm, then shuts off within 30 seconds with a bang at the mixing valve or vicinity. After some time, the hot side pressure returns. But shuts off as usual. The design of the mixing valve is such that it has a safety that shuts off the hot water whenever it senses there is no cold. It would be nice if someone could take a look at it rather than telling me that it is a system wide problem in which nothing can be done because the various contractors claim it's someone else's fault, not theirs, and I should shower elsewhere. I understand things can and do go wrong. I also am more than reasonably patient because of the otherwise outstanding complex I live in. But hot water is essential, not merely convenient, a service that my rent covers. This has been going on for over 2 months, and can someone please take a look at the problem rather than telling me nothing can be done.

Just wanted to post a resolution to my hot water problem. As soon as the problem was diagnosed, management response was quick. The problem was relatively easy to fix (by an expert). I want to thank Chris, Deborah and Gabe (and the plumber) for their quick action in resolving this issue as soon as it was identified. Thanks

I have to first say that the hot water hath run aplenty this past week. I was sure that my problems were solved till today's cold temperatures..... The hot water is gone and I have an entire bathtub of room temp water that no tea kettle will raise to a level of my liking. WHAT IS UP ??? I I SO NEED TO TAKE A SHOWER AND GET TO SCHOOL and I am miffed.

Hi neighbors and management ... Its astonishing that March is around the corner already but its no surprise that these building issues are still actively being taken care of on a regular basis. I appreciate that the window seals were taken care of and haven't noticed any leaks with the light rain we've had. I have full faith that at some point we'll have all these kinks squared away.

In #305 in the 35 Thompson bldg.
We too have to waste/run the cold water 5-10 minutes to wait for the warm/hot water to come in both showers and sinks :\
We're wondering why the cold water pressure is so strong yet the hot water is half the strength?
My bathroom needs to be primed and painted still.
Sarah's bathroom fan makes clicking sounds when turned off.
Door knobs need attention. For instance one doesn't close with plate on jam in place.
There are 2 electrical outlets downstairs that have no power.
Heating seems to still be inconsistent downstairs, perhaps due to the high ceilings I am not sure.
In on place where the concrete floor panels meet its not level. Is it possible for these cracks to be filled?

Thanks for hearing our issues out and taking action to making this such a wonderful place to live!!

Still happy to be part of the community and realize our problems pale in comparison to some; however, I have listed below the issues we are still facing:
*Dishwasher simply does not work properly. We have tried everything- settings, hot water running, detergents, etc. At this point I think we have a 'lemon' on our hands.
*No hot water in bathroom sink
    *Stove fan does not work
*Condensation on windows near balcony (not a huge problem)
Otherwise, we are thrilled to be part of WAV! Thanks for listening and hope we can resolve the dishwasher issue, if nothing else! :)

    YESTERDAY before school........
i have no hot water and I want to cry
I've waited, and wasted all day
wanting that shower so duely desired
there must be some alternative way.

Thanks for letting me shower at your place yesterday David Allover...... We are such close neighbors, yet you have hot water and I don't..

WHO HAS AN AFFORDABLE INTERNET SOLUTION?
WE simply cannot rely on the "free wi-fi " here at the WAV any longer.
Yes in the beginning there were loads of issues, but then things got better. It seems though over the past few weeks things have been unbearable and we cannot handle being booted off line constantly, unable to locate the server, waiting and watching the loading signal.
IT seems that there are 3 options, all of which include $ of course.
I am against getting a phone line, I spend more than I should on the 2 cell phones we have.
A phone line is required by ATT to set up DSL in the individual units.
Otherwise, Charter Cable has internet but I was told by Ventura High speed that it was not very fast.
the last option is Satellite, which is also slow I was told.
Sending and receiving emails is a very important and crucial part of our business.
I feel SO Frustrated when opportunities are lost because of our lack of internet connection.
What is everyone else doing about this issue, or is it also possibly a problem for me due to my location????
  9.
you are definately NOT on your own! I have had constant problems with the internet which is either "torturing" slow at best , or usually not working at all. It has been a rather disappointing issue , and i have considered getting dedicated internet, which is out of the question atm because of ... yeap...$s!
i wish the VHSinternet was working properly and fast...

Can someone give me an idea of the costs for a one bedroom unit or if there are any available or will be available? Any drawings of interiors or photos? Thank you
